Two chapters of this text were selected in AE. The chapter, A Fable for Tomorrow, raised the purpose and argument of entire book. This chapter asks a question “What has already silenced the voices of spring in countless towns in America?” by comparing the past and present environment of a town in America. The chapter, And No Birds Sing, discuss the death of birds due to the DDT spray. She uses the research and study to support her statement. She lists some examples of different kinds of birds, such as robins and eagles. The author also elaborates what causes these birds death respectively. The first chapter puts forward the argument and the second chapter illustrates and demonstrates it.
